Pool Deck Construction

Pool deck construction is the surface around the pool: the base, drainage slope, coping edge and the finish you walk on, built to shed water away from the pool and the house.

Beautiful, slip-resistant decks that complete your outdoor space.

Pool Deck Construction: common questions

What deck surfaces are common in Central Florida?

Concrete pavers, travertine pavers, and poured concrete with a broom, textured or spray finish are all common. Lighter, textured surfaces stay cooler and less slippery underfoot.

Does a pool deck need a permit?

Usually it is part of the pool permit, and the deck and piping are inspected before they are covered. A raised wood deck or platform is different: Orange County, for example, requires a separate permit with sealed plans.

Can you replace the deck on an existing pool?

Yes. Deck replacement on an existing pool is quoted after a site review of the current deck, coping and drainage.

Should the screen enclosure be planned with the deck?

Yes. Enclosure footings or beams sit at the deck edge, so planning both together avoids cutting a new deck later.
