## Not every pool license covers a community pool

Florida pool contractor licenses come in different classes. A commercial pool/spa contractor may work on any swimming pool, hot tub or spa, public or private. A residential pool/spa contractor is limited to residential pools (s. 489.105(3)(j) and (k), F.S.). For an HOA, hotel, apartment or public pool, ask for the license number and check its class on the state's DBPR search.

## From bid request to opening

1. Bid request: Send the property, the scope and any bid or board date, online or by phone.
2. Site walk: Playwell walks the pool and the site to confirm scope, access and existing conditions.
3. Written bid: Itemized scope with inclusions and exclusions, written so a board, owner or GC can compare it.
4. Permits and health department: Building permit, and for public pools the Department of Health operating permit application or resurfacing notice.
5. Build and inspections: Construction with the inspections the permit requires, coordinated with your schedule and other trades.
6. Opening and handoff: Startup, the health department opening inspection where required, and turnover to the owner.
